Ahmed's Policy Positions:

Standing for Justice: A Just and Equal Future in Palestine

As a candidate for the Australian Parliament, I stand in unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and their struggle for justice, freedom, and self-determination. The Palestinian cause is a matter of universal human rights, the right to live in peace and dignity, free from occupation, apartheid, and systemic oppression.

For too long, the international community has allowed injustice in Palestine to persist. It is time to speak clearly: true peace can only be achieved through equality. I support a single democratic state in historic Palestine, where all people, regardless of religion or ethnicity, live with equal rights under one law.

Ahmed’s Plan for change

One State Built on Justice and Equality

The Palestinian people, regardless of where they live, whether in historic Palestine, the occupied West Bank, Gaza, East Jerusalem, refugee camps, or the diaspora, are united in their common struggle for justice, freedom, and self-determination. This struggle cannot be resolved by the false promise of a two-state solution, which has only perpetuated division, injustice, and the ongoing occupation of Palestinian land. The solution lies in one state, where everyone live together with equal rights, free from segregation, apartheid, and discrimination. This one state must ensure justice for all, a shared future for all, and an end to the policies of ethnic cleansing, occupation, and apartheid that have plagued the region for over 70 years. In rejecting the division of Palestine into separate states, we assert the right of all people, to live together in a just and peaceful society, with equal rights, equal protection under the law, and shared sovereignty over the land. This state must be founded on principles of democracy, equality, and human rights.

Liberation is a Right, Not a Negotiation

Palestinians are a colonised and occupied people. They have the inalienable right, under international law, to resist occupation, seek self-determination, and live free from military control and apartheid structures. These rights are non-negotiable and must not be conditioned on external approval or political convenience. I stand in unconditional support of the Palestinian people’s right to seek liberation, including the right to end the illegal Israeli occupation, to lift the siege on Gaza, and to dismantle the apartheid regime. The policies of occupation and segregation have only deepened the humanitarian crisis, destabilized the region, and undermined peace.

The Right of Return for Refugees

Over six million Palestinians remain displaced due to the Nakba of 1948 and the occupation of 1967. Their right of return is fundamental, enshrined in UN Resolutions 194 and 3236, and central to any just resolution. All Palestinian refugees must be granted: The right to return to their homes and land, should they choose to do so. Compensation for loss and displacement if they choose not to return. This is not only a matter of law, it is a matter of historical justice.

Jerusalem: Capital of Palestine

Over six million Palestinians remain displaced due to the Nakba of 1948 and the occupation of 1967. Their right of return is fundamental, enshrined in UN Resolutions 194 and 3236, and central to any just resolution.

All Palestinian refugees must be granted:

  • The right to return to their homes and land, should they choose to do so.
  • Compensation for loss and displacement if they choose not to return.

This is not only a matter of law, it is a matter of historical justice.

The Right to Self-Determination

Jerusalem is the historic, cultural, and spiritual heart of the Palestinian people. The occupation of East Jerusalem and the displacement of its Palestinian residents is illegal under international law and must end.

Jerusalem must:

  • Be recognised as the capital of Palestine.
  • Remain open to all faiths: Muslims, Christians, and Jews.
  • Be governed by its rightful inhabitants, not by a foreign occupying power.

End the Occupation and Dismantle Apartheid

The ongoing military occupation of the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem, along with Israel’s apartheid policies, must end. Palestinians should not be subjected to:

  • Military checkpoints, curfews, and surveillance.
  • Ethnic displacement or demolition of homes.
  • A dual legal system based on ethnicity.

Australia must support global efforts to end Israeli apartheid and hold the state accountable for its violations of international law and human rights.

Supporting Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS)

I support the peaceful, global BDS movement as a legitimate nonviolent strategy to:

  • End the occupation.
  • Dismantle the apartheid regime.
  • Promote equality, justice, and accountability.

Just as global solidarity helped dismantle apartheid in South Africa, it can help end injustice in Palestine.

Let’s work together

Australia can be a beacon of hope and justice in global affairs. By advocating for a foreign policy rooted in the values of freedom, justice, and equality, we can make a profound impact on the international stage. Together with Ahmed, we can ensure that Australia not only plays a pivotal role in defending human rights but also leads by example in creating a fairer and more just global community for all.

Let’s work together to shape a foreign policy that reflects our ideals and upholds the dignity of every person, everywhere.
